Listen It’s Laser Tag: New Year, New Experiences

What better way to kick off the new year than by having a new experience? That’s exactly what happened this week when I was joined by some friends (who are also my coworkers) who were excited to play their very first-ever game of laser tag!



Our “Listen It’s Laser Tag” radio squad included “Listen It’s Liz” Ellis (the voice of the “Listen It’s Liz” podcast), her stepson Benjamin, “Keeping the Traffic Moving” Kayla and me. We all paid a visit to The Family Fun Factory in New Hartford, NY so I could introduce them to the game for the very first time.



The place was still decked out with lots of lights in holiday style!



However, we were mostly interested in the lights flashing on the packs as we prepared to tag. Staff member Enzo took us back to the vesting room where we suited up and got a briefing on the games, starting with color-ranked free for all. After learning about the Laserforce Gen 8 system and how to play, my friends got their first look at the arena.



Looks like this group is definitely ready to experience their first-ever game of laser tag!



Following the free for all, we took a quick break to discuss what had taken place and then divided into teams for the next game. Liz and Benjamin teamed up against Kayla and me, playing as fire and ice teams.


Everyone had the best time! It was so heartening to be able to introduce laser tag to some brand new players and have them respond so positively to the experience.

As you can tell, laser tag has amazingly broad appeal and it won over my coworkers in a big way. I’m so glad they enjoyed the experience as much as I did! :)


So if you are looking for a new experience to kick off the new year, I’m certain I know three more people who would say laser tag is a great place to start in 2026!
