Andretti’s in Orlando
IAAPA is my reason for being in Florida (and we will talk about that a LOT more soon!), but while here I wanted to find a few more arenas to play. Unbelievably, somehow I had not previously played Andretti’s Indoor Karting and Games in Orlando (even though I have been to several of their other locations), so I took the opportunity to play prior to the Tactical Laser Tag Operators Gathering that took place in their upstairs Sky Bar. This gathering was a nice opportunity to catch up with friends…including these Photon Warriors!
I arrived early and with perfect timing to join a group that was mid-briefing and ready to go in. I must say, they do a good job with the customized briefing videos at all the Andretti’s locations I have played. It sets the stage using the familiar Cyprus character.
I put on my Delta Strike Evolution pack and was ready to go.
This is a cool arena! I enjoy seeing something different and for me this had some really unique things going on!
This statue immediately caught my eye and I knew I needed a photo.
Other cool touches throughout the arena included unique housings around the video bases. I think this may be my first time tagging through a gas station motif!
And there were a couple of gates set up with Delta Strike targets.
This is a two story arena and I came across one barrier that made me think I couldn’t go up to the second level, but I quickly found I was mistaken when I found a ramp on the other side. So glad that both levels were equally in play because this top floor had some interesting structure, as you can see in my photo, although in this case the pic does not do proper justice to the look of this layout,
I adopted a sweet spot next to the power lines (yep, you read that right!) which were another design I was seeing for the first time. This was also a good sight line between the floors, so a functional section of the arena that was well augmented with a unique prop.
This arena was quite impressive. I love seeing new design concepts like what I saw here. I left this game feeling really energized, even though it had been a long day. By this point I was ready to just sit down and socialize, so it was nice that the tactical tag operators gathering was only a few steps away. We swapped stories and enjoyed time with industry friends…and met a few new characters too!
Such a great first night in Orlando!
