Darklight Tournament Over Thanksgiving
The night before Thanksgiving while some people are preparing their houses and cooking food, I went a different way. I’m the type of person who decides to hop in my car and drive to New Jersey for a laser tag tournament instead! What amazes me is that’s I was not alone in this decision and there were eight full teams ready to go at the start of this awesome event playing Darklight at Laser One in Wantage, NJ. I met up with my team, Pyrus Uprising, and greeted the returning co

Laser Tag at IAAPA 2022
If you want to see the latest innovations across the laser tag industry, the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, FL is the place to be! I spent three days talking with all the laser tag manufacturers and getting their opinions to share in an upcoming episode of the Laser Unfocused Tag Talk Podcast while seeing what is new and what is exciting for the industry as we move into the next year. There is plenty to be excited about in the laser tag industry right now. So much I barely know where

Speaking of Conventions…
The schedule has been announced, so I am delighted to say I will be speaking again at this year’s Laser Tag Convention in Las Vegas. The laser tag seminars are coincidentally scheduled on March 28th, so this is how I’m looking forward to spending International Laser Tag Day! http://lasertagconvention.com Comments or Questions? Tactical Tag at Battleground Orlando
I have had very limited experience so far tagging with the Netronic tactical gear, formerly known as LaserTag.net, so I was really pleased when I met with Michael Obod, co-founder and CEO of Netronic, and his wife Oksana who told me I could find their equipment in use at Battleground Orlando. Even though it was getting late by the time I arrived and I had an early flight the next morning, it was worth it to me to stop in, even just to play one game before I headed home from F

My Sentimental System
I love Rift. I always have and I always will. Even though technically Infusion was my first laser tag experience, Rift was the system in use at my home site when I first developed a passion for laser tag and in the very beginning it was what I played every single weekend. As it is now an “end of life” system I realize that as arenas start to upgrade to newer gear, the opportunities to play Rift will become increasingly few and far between. So my heart leapt when I walked into

From Player to Operator – New Podcast Episode
While I was busy at IAAPA conducting interviews in preparation for my next podcast episode, the current episode of Laser Unfocused Tag Talk dropped and immediately started garnering attention for the unique stories told by a laser tag player turned operator who has just recently opened his own laser tag arena. Making the leap from player to operator can be full of both challenges and fun. Nathan Buxhoeveden, owner of Kynytyx in Bellport, NY shared some of his experiences on t

Ready to Launch
I have had some great experiences at various Launch Family Entertainment Centers, but since they are independently owned franchises each one is also unique in its own way. As such, there were two things made my visit to Launch Orlando especially memorable...their awesome staff and a different game experience. This was the first time I had played at a Launch location that was using Delta Strike Genesis equipment (which I have only had the chance to play on three other occasion

An Elev8ing Experience
During my recent visit to Florida, I had three days planned for attending the IAAPA trade show, but you know I had to check out the new arenas in the Orlando area while I was there! I had met Keith Baldwin, the Director of Operations from Elev8 Fun, while conducting podcast interviews and he told me about their entertainment center in Sanford, Florida which was already on my radar and I added it to my schedule, paying a visit that very night. I had already made dinner plans n

Tag 4 A Cause Across the Globe
It is remarkable to me that Tag 4 A Cause has made its way across the globe and found support from laser tag players as far away as the Czech Republic! My thanks to the Laserforce players from this international community who helped to raise money for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline while incorporating the laser tag 5K challenge into their recent tournament series. Their tournaments began at the end of September with an hour-long Gladiator game at Star Doms in Domažlice whe

Redemption
Honestly, I have not given one iota of thought to the prize redemption counter at my local laser tag arena in a LONG time. The last time I cared about a redemption prize at all was shortly before Christmas (maybe five or six years ago) when I was trying to win a drone for my nephew. Time was running out so I swiped my card on every machine at the arcade and just let the kids enjoy finding “free games!” and racking up the tickets for me while I was busy in the arena playing ta
