Connecticut Road Trip!

I made a last minute decision to take a road trip to Connecticut and explore a few arenas along the western part of the state, which is what led me to visit R&B Sports World in Winsted, CT. This is a family owned amusement center that has been part of the local community for years, but it only just landed on my radar because of the recent addition of laser tag about eight months ago.

Rachel and Amy showed me the way to the upstairs briefing and vesting room where I found Delta Strike Evolution Pro on the racks along the neon graphic walls. We suited up and got ready to start a game inside what turned out to be a really unique arena!

The layout of the arena makes use of an interesting space. The room has an L-shaped floor plan, so what they have done is taken the CW walls purchased from another arena and set them up in an original map that starts with what feels like a long, winding hallway where the maze lets you weave your way to the heart of the arena. There I found three video base stations suspended at angles from above, which was another creative use of the space.

The placement of the maze walls makes this arena play a bit differently, which was cool. Let’s take a tour! :)
The fog and lighting effects are vibrant and give it a nice energy.

Owner Rachel told me they hope to upgrade and add some additional game components in the future.
The game was a lot of fun, but the unique arena is what I will remember most about this stop. Although they are known for having plenty of outdoor attractions like go-karts, bumper cars and mini-golf, I think the addition of laser tag will be a big for anyone looking to move the fun indoors. Since we have apparently had precipitation at least one day every weekend since November, some indoor amusement options are always an asset and laser tag should be a huge incentive to check out all the cool things they have added inside the building here at R&B Sports World.
