Force Friends in Cali
By mid week I found myself passing through San Marcos, CA, so of course I paid a visit to our member friends at Invasion Laser Tag. I had most recently seen EboMike, Anchovy and Halange during the Laserforce Nats held at my home site on the other side of the country, so this time around it was nice to get to visit them in their arena.
Even though owners Bronwyn and Kevin were not there when I visited, I want to shout out their business and their awesome team who let us enjoy whatever tag formats we wanted to play throughout the night.
I enjoy this arena, but definitely had to myself with the layout.
We started the night by playing some Photon Emulation (yes, that was my pick!), but we mixed things up with a little Time Warp, Fugitive and Challenge Royale. Escalation was a whole different animal with all the bonus targets in addition to the main bases hanging from the ceiling.
I had not realized just how many mirrors and reflective surfaces there are in this arena until I found myself being tagged from some crazy angles. As you can see here, Mike could have ducked completely behind this barrier, but it would still be possible to tag him on the reflection from this mirror angled from above.
You notice so many interesting things when you visit another member site!
The most interesting game experience of the night would have to be playing two man SM5. Who says you need to make numbers in order to have a good time?
Yes, we played Ammo and Medic only and it really was a cool experience. I hung in until nearly the end, but ultimately was taken out by the father/son duo playing against Tess and me. Still a great time…and not my worst Resupply score, lol!
After a full night of tag with these great people we went out for dinner and some ice cream to round out the evening.
One of the things I love about our laser tag community is that I have friends literally all over the country. How nice it was to visit California and have Force friends to meet up with while I was there. Until next time…May the Laserforce be with you!
