He’s Her Lobster: Laser Tagging in Maine

While laser tagging in Maine, I took along a little friend (see, he’s her lobster) as I paid a visit to the Family Time Dine and Play Arcade that features Splats Laser Tag inside the Auburn Mall.

Maine was on my radar now that I’m attempting to tag in all 50 states again for a third time. Some states will be more of a challenge to get to geographically, so I thought it would be good to start the year checking off the northeastern-most part of the country early. However, finding an arena I had not played before was an added reason to hit the road and go play! Why not…I’ve got the TIME! ;)

I arrived just as the arcade was opening for the day and met the owner, Jeff, and his son Andrew. Jeff told me they have been operating the business since 2013 and a couple of years later they purchased their first Lazer Runner tag system from another facility before upgrading to the newest Runner V4 system in approximately 2022. He spoke very positively about his experience with this system and their service program, which is always nice to know about.

Andrew took me across the mall hallway to the arena entrance.

We vested up for a 1v1, which turned out to be the perfect scenario.

The single level arena has a smaller footprint, but played nicely because of the positioning of the five targets. They have really used the space well and the targets became a primary focus for this game.

Typically you would expect the emphasis to be on player tags, but in this instance it felt like we were only tagging each other to have time to get more base tags during an opponent’s down time, as Andrew and I were both zeroing in on these base and target stations.

This was really a lot of fun!

The arena has the classic Runner walls, but also a touch of “Super Mario” vibe with all these giant tube structures scattered throughout.

However, what I found really cool was all the holiday decor that made this space feel extra festive!

I especially liked the snowflake details that were added to many of the Runner walls.

And let me tell you, this may very well be the best value on laser tag that I’ve seen in a long time!

With affordable family entertainment that includes the laser tag, the arcade and food and even the addition of a stuffed animal creation business, they have something to appeal to all ages, which is cool to see. What time is it?

It’s tag time at Family Dine and Play! My thanks for a great experience…and that goes for my little friend too!
