In the Zone on Day 3

Armageddon Day 3 got underway with Zone, playing Helios 3 at Ultrazone Bensalem in Pennsylvania. This site has always been special to me (going all the way back to playing with my first laser tag team called “All About That Base”) so I enjoy returning to play here. It’s even better getting to play with the latest Zone equipment.

The packs are looking sharp on this pack of players!

It’s strange how even though I don’t have this system near me to play any more, and it has been that way for a while, I still consider it my home system simply for having started on it. So I take every opportunity to enjoy it when I can, which made this an enjoyable start to the day.
It’s cool to experience the H3 “out in the wild”.

We tracked the schedule on my pre-printed chart (I’m the organizational piece of the team), overseen by the rubber chicken.

When our games were called, we were amped up and ready!

And when inside the blue base, some of us were a bit sentimental, remembering a friend. If you know, then you see it.

And we worked hard to leave no base behind.

In between games it was Selfiegeddon!

We played incredibly hard and truly earned this pizza at the end, having taken first place twice and second twice (which mathematically also means we got third twice).

I took some time to hang with my roomie, Woz.

And we ended our morning at Zone feeling really positive about everything that had happened so far.

Four hours back to Syracuse and we were ready to spend the rest of the (late) evening playing tactical with Battle Company (Laser Tag Pro) gear, briefed by Bhodi Li.

Our team took on tactical head on and very nearly made a clean sweep of the system, winning all of our games except the last one (which was very close).

It was great to have Marc Mueller with us, importing the system and running the games for us.

Towards the end though, tactical took an interesting turn. As you can see, we are ready for the game.

However, our second to last game involved Cope’s team doing something weird…nothing. No moves at all made this game very close to being a stalemate. Was this an attempt to keep us from getting another point for strategic math? Like a…Coping Strategy, lol! I don’t know, but what happened was Papa Smurf got brave and made the only tag of the whole game in the final seconds, which won us the game and makes him the hero of that round in my opinion.
Meanwhile, the Coping Mechanism’s shenanigans were not over. While I was not reffing personally, my team had to ref in a later game where they opted to forfeit by…well, doing a little song and skit. Yeah.
Ok, I don’t know what to do with that, but I dod know what to do when all was done for the night. I beelined it to Wegman’s (as it was late and thank goodness they were still open for 15 minutes, bought some sushi to take back to the hotel and crashed hard at the end of Day 3. This is what Armageddon does to you, lol!
