It’s Fall Y’all!

Fall is here and that means it’s time for apple picking, pumpkin patches and (where I live) scarecrow contests! So let me introduce you to Laser Tag Larry, my entry in a scarecrow contest being held at a local art center where he will be on display for the next few weeks. :)

Larry was constructed from a pillow case and some plastic bags with a few accessories found at thrift stores (like the pink boots and that 80s themed shirt that suits him perfectly).

Getting the laser tag pack to be contest ready was the most important element. Because he will be displayed outside there are no electronics allowed. So all the tech had to be removed from this Nexus pack (though it was an extra that had long ago been scrapped for parts, so that was not a problem). He has a phaser shell attached to his pool noodle arm and the “beam” emitting from the phaser is actually a glow stick necklace, which could have been acquired at a laser tag party so…authenticity! ;) It obviously won’t glow for the duration of the display, but it still looks pretty good and was fun to see glowing for the first four hours as I added the finishing touches.

I’m pleased with how he turned out and really happy to be able to have laser tag represented in an unexpected way.
