Next up: North Dakota. I drove across the eastern part of Montana, making my way into western North Dakota before stopping to rest for the night. Then the following morning I timed the remainder of my trip to arrive at TILT Studios Bismarck just as soon as they opened.

Well, it turned out I arrived a bit later than that because I didn’t realize that I would lose an hour crossing over from the mountain to the central time zone in the process. I stopped for breakfast in route and picked up yet another rubber chicken as a souvenir and mascot of my travels into North Dakota.

When I walked up to the counter and explained why I was there, I met Elijah who told me I was the most interesting person he had encountered while on the job. That’s cool…though it bears pointing out that he had only been on the job for four days! :)

In fact, he was so new to this position that he had not yet played the laser tag arena, so manager Christian and game marshal Jace facilitated a game where we could both have our first experience playing this particular arena.

As I have often said, I do believe that experiencing all the attractions should be part of onboarding a new staff member, so I was delighted that my presence here could help provide that opportunity.

We put on our CyberBlast Pro packs and entered the large, single-level arena and found ourselves in the middle of a jungle.

We traded tags while meandering through the various “rooms” and around pillars and walls.

There is a lot of creatively used space with plenty of places to tuck away and hide behind alcoves and corners. The build makes sight lines fairly short, but the space feels quite large.
