Rockin’ Arena

It’s awesome to have friends throughout the country that I am able to visit during my tags trips, so it was an extra bonus to meet up with Raven to play some Delta Strike Genesis while at Urban Air in Huntsville, AL.

Our thanks to GM Alexis for providing an opportunity for us to play an early morning game and catch up a bit as we explored this rockin’ arena decked out in bright neon colors, the really cool “Trapper Keeper” theming that Urban Air has started implementing and vibrant accents that really appeal to our mutual love of “all things 80s”. This arena style is so fresh and on point for laser tag!

Just look around and you’ll see why I have given the thee that affectionate nickname.

Continuing my new tradition, I was joined by a tiny Huntsville Dinosaur riding shotgun on my phaser!

As Raven and I have only played laser tag together once before (using a different system) this was a chance for me to share a few elements of this particular system as we explored the vivid game space. Some of the archways were purely decorative.

Others featured the small targets glowing in rainbow colors, so I showed her how to capture a gate in her team color or simply tag them for extra points.

Of course, tagging one another was more fun!

And this is another great example of that partial open air arena style I mentioned recently for which Urban Air was an early adopter. Alexis watched us from the other side of the arena walls.

We had a great time and this is one more check on my list of arenas as I continue to laser tag the country again while also edging closer to my next milestone number.

And I am so glad I had this opportunity to catch up with a friend who for the last decade has been part of my second family that is scattered all over the country. A visit with Raven was my best reason for swinging through Huntsville this past weekend…but Urban Air was a great bonus!
