The Sisterhood is Real: Guess Who’s Laser Tagging!

The sisterhood is real. While it is no surprise that I have new laser tag photos to post from over the weekend, I’m betting that nobody expected that laser tag would be taking place on the Miss Finger Lakes pageant stage prior to crowning our new pageant sisters on Saturday night, but that’s exactly what happened!

Let’s start at the beginning. As a former Miss Finger Lakes myself (year redacted, lol) I return each year to help run the sound board for the annual pageant production to crown Miss Finger Lakes and Miss Upstae New York.

Throughout the course of the day we typically have some down time before the show, during which I casually asked my MFL sister Ariel Staffin if she had ever played laser tag before. This started an awesome conversation about her experiences laser tagging at the Branchburg Sports Complex in New Jersey and also how she experienced it again with the MILES system when she joined the army. To give a more proper introduction, the is army Lieutenant Ariel Staffin, who held the title of Miss Finger Lakes 2025.

Needless to say, I knew some laser tag had to happen here, so we took to the stage during a break in rehearsals using a CyberNeo home market laser tag set from my car. Check it out!
Fierce. Phasers. Finger Lakes!

Who says you can’t play laser tag while you’re at a pageant? We had several others join us as well including Miss New York Teen 2025, Nadia Anwar, who told me she played laser tag at The Castle Fun Center during her state pageant week and Miss Atlantic Coast (AUM) Isabella Petitto who had previously played at my former laser tag home, the Fun Junction.

How cool is it to have both tiaras and tag to unite the sisterhood? I love that we had pageant sisters and friends all getting into the backstage shenanigans!
During the course of the afternoon, we continued to rehearse before the lights dimmed and the show began. We got a chance to cheer on Ariel and Nadia as they performed their talents. Believe it or not, Ariel is a beatboxer and performed this skill amazingly!

And Nadia is a vocalist with a very bright future ahead of her.

At the end of the night four young women were crowned and welcomed into the family.

And as we did the forever’s “crown down” photo with the forever Miss Finger Lakes in attendance I once again felt so fortunate to be part of an amazing sisterhood.

I also looked back and realized I could have a ready-made laser tag team for the next tournament at the drop of a hat…or the drop of a crown, as the case may be! :)
