Traveling (and Tagging) Through Tennessee

There are two things that I will remember about my most recent trip through Tennessee. The VERY unique travel circumstances and some terrific tag at Tenn Pin Alley in Columbia, TN.

I arrived and chatted with the manager who encouraged me to take note of the original artwork on the walls when I went into the arena. Ok, I’m intrigued!

I purchased my game pass and got in line for the next game. This began with me discovering Zone Helios CE in the vesting room and me getting suited up to play.

This is mostly a single level arena that is laid out lengthwise with some familiar CW walls and structures.

However, there were a few nicely incorporated points where you could get some elevation. I noticed a sniper’s tower in the far corner with a short staircase that would lead you to the top. This was probably the literal high point in the arena.

It reminds me a bit of Rapunzel’s tower. :)

And on each side wall was a significantly raised structure that looked a bit more like a fortress.

This was a high platform, accessible by VERY steep ramps on either side.

So, the structures were what caught my eye first, but it didn’t take me long to take note of those interesting and artistic walls! The giant head on the wall was not out of the ordinary.

But the pyramid was beautifully done.

But the coolest thing in this arena? The painted mural giving homage to the Stargate!

Now, if you know what has taken place that altered my life in the last couple of years you know that an actual vintage Laser Storm Stargate played a bigger role in my world than I ever would have imagined (words I never expected to write!) so seeing this artwork resonates far more strongly with me today than it may have a few years back. But there is no denying there was some real attention given to creating a unique element through the art that goes beyond the other familiar elements in the maze.

Tenn Pin Alley was a great stop as I found myself unexpectedly traveling through Tennessee.

Now, here comes the travel part of the story. Why was I unexpectedly in Tennessee during my Alabama adventure? Well, no matter how well I think I can make a plan, travel requires flexibility, and what a weekend for that! Lots of impacting weather events were taking place all over the country, so I was definitely not the only one to be facing travel adjustments. I understand it was a hail storm in Atlanta that was causing flights to be diverted to Huntsville instead. Long story short, like Alice through the Looking Glass, I simply couldn’t return the same way I came, so I ended up flying out of Nashville instead (which turned out to be quite a blessing in disguise). Ok, plans change, and I’m fortunate enough to be able to roll with many of those changes so instead of calling that a dilemma, I instead called it an opportunity to enjoy some unexpected tag in Tennessee at Tenn Pin Alley! :)
