Venturing to Vermont

As I continue my journey to laser tag in all 50 states once again, I hit both a challenge and a wonderful solution for tagging in Vermont. When there are no more arenas left that I haven’t already played in Vermont, it’s time to take it outside!

I made a weekend road trip, driving five hours up to the furthest northwest corner of Vermont to play outdoors with Infinite Mobile Laser Tag. This was a special all-ages event hosted by the Sheldon Municipal Library with both younger and older players tagging along the trail next to their school.

When I arrived, I met Rod, the owner of Infinite Mobile Laser Tag.

He showed me the Steradian Eclipse 400 gear that he has been quite happy using since starting his laser tag business.

We opted for a standard two-team game, loading up seven “lives” on the phaser before heading out onto the trail.

Once adopting our hiding spots, we listened for movement and voices to find where the players were moving so we could covertly tag them around the trees and the trail.

Once a player was tagged their head sensors would glow red.

And if you were tagged enough to deplete all your lives you headed back to the starting point for a manual respawn to rejoin the game.

For the next game we mixed up the teams and I suggested our team name be “Not Fast, Just Furious”.

However, one player took the name literally and quickly corrected me, telling me he was actually very fast. Fair enough! ;)

I was more interested in exploring the trail, which actually is about a mile and a half long, though we did not follow it that far.

I did follow it far enough to locate something of personal interest to me…maple sap tubing! Someone clearly taps the maple trees in these woods to make real maple syrup.

As a former NYS Maple Queen, I am still an advocate for the entire maple industry and was more than happy to sample the Vermont maple products I found along my journey.

But this trip was not about the treats, it was about the tag, so I followed the blue markings on the trees back along the trail to continue the game.

When I returned at the end of surviving a game of Infection there were some new players joining our group. They asked if I was the laser tag lady and when I said yes they jokingly asked how big a head start they should give me. Lol, it’s game on now! :)

And that wrapped up a really cool afternoon, laser tagging out in the woods in Sheldon, VT.

I have been very fortunate to be able to be part of awesome adventures and events wherever I travel. This was a particularly unique experience due to the equipment, the atmosphere and the hospitality. My thanks to Rod of Infinite Mobile Laser Tag and Valerie, Maria and the whole team from the Sheldon Municipal Library for welcoming to enjoy some excellent outdoor laser tag with them to complete my goal of laser tagging again in Vermont!
