Exploring the Cave

I visited The Cave in Bethel, CT looking for traces of any leftover “monsters” (as I know this had formerly been a Monster Mini Golf location), but what I found was a really fun two-level arena loaded with black lights and Helios Pro targets.

I got a glimpse of the arena before I went in with this site taking a page out of the discussion we had recently at the Laser Tag Summit. We talked about how laser tag is the only attraction that typically gets hidden behind four walls, but that was not the case here. On the lower level I found a full wall of plate glass windows giving a peek to what we would find inside the arena for our game.

Upstairs windows serve as an observation deck to look out over the game (and where I found remnants of those familiar monster eyes).

And the view of this arena was really breathtaking.

I like the addition of lighted coils to identify which base housing you are looking at.

And the chandelier of skulls and candles is an appropriately eerie touch!

The theming here is excellent and sets a mood.

It bears repeating…SO many black lights!
I went into a game with a precocious little girl and her dad and had such a great time teaching her to “shoot the red circles” as we teamed up. When a little kid takes things extra-seriously and jumps into a ferocious stance to be ready to tag it is always adorable, but seeing a little girl in a dress with pink sneakers learning how to beat her dad in the game was equal parts cute and rewarding for me to help her along.
The enjoyed playing Helios Pro, though the majority of my game was simply coaching and tagging targets (we didn’t want to beat up on dad TOO badly!) and that was just fine. I really loved watching how much fun was being had by this young player learning to do well and explore this space while I admired the atmosphere.
The Cave did a great job with this arena and I would definitely return here on my next trip through Connecticut!
