Starting and Ending My Day in a “Rush”

I was able to visit two Rush Funplex locations while in Utah. The first was in Orem at the start of the day and the other was in West Jordan at the end. The unique circumstances of this day made both stops very literally a rush!

Due to a last minute change in travel plans I had to complete visits to five arenas before 3:00 in order to catch my new flight, so I first headed to Orem and walked in the door bright and early when they opened at 10:00. I am very appreciative that things timed out in order to get in a quick game of Laserforce in what I found to be a really pretty jungle theme arena.

The arena is clearly the work of Art Attack and featured a few familiar hallmarks.

The walls are incredibly attention getting with brilliant images of parrots and tigers and snakes, oh my!

This was a single level arena (with the other hallmark…the bridge) and it was a cool aesthetic. However, at the end of the day I really appreciated seeing an expanded take on this theme inside the two-level arena at the Rush Funplex in West Jordan. This became the final stop of my trip, but I’ll share the experience now because my Rush visits made for a nice end cap on each side of my day.

When I arrived at West Jordan I was cutting things close. The only way it would work out was if I could manage to get into a game right away. I approached the counter and hurriedly asked the staff member “How fast can I get into a game of laser tag? I have a flight to catch!” I’m guessing nobody has ever said those words before, lol! Fortunately, he smiled and said a game had just ended and I could go into the next game immediately. Excellent! It’s time for laser tag!

By this point in my day I was taking pics with my “I ❤️ Utah” horse (which has now been given the name NeighZor) next to the laser tag gear.

We entered and I saw a similar jungle styling, but really amped up.

The ramps were. Good spot to get a nice view of the arena.

There were some additional structural props to enhance the theme.

The base housings had a rather unique design as well.

But what was most memorable to me about this arena was the effective combination of lighting and sound effects to create thunder and lightning going off in one corner all throughout the game. Love this!

When the game ended I shouted my thanks to the game marshal who took the photos for me during the game, saving me some time at the end, which allowed me to leave quickly in a real “Rush” and get to the airport on time to catch my flight. So it seems rather appropriate that I was able to both start and end my day in a Rush…Funplex!
