Tag 4 A Cause is a Success at Kynytyx
It was so much fun to bring Tag 4 A Cause to Kynytyx in Bellport, NY during their public vs staff night earlier this week! There was a great group of players and a wonderful show of support with donations being made to Action Against Hunger. I arrived at this arena on Long Island by early afternoon and got everything set up and ready to go in the lobby. Arena owners Nathan and Kim welcomed me back (I had been here twice earlier this year as this location was my 400th laser ta

New Podcast Episode: The Story of the Last Photon Told by Jim Strother
Time for another episode of Laser Unfocused Tag Talk! This week I’m joined by Jim Strother, who shares his story as the last person to open and operate a Photon laser tag business back in 2008 in Broken Arrow, OK. Zone US Nationals 2022
I recently played in the 2022 Zone Laser Tag U.S. Championships alongside some of the most skillful Zone players in the country. I joined together with friends on the Blood, Sweat and Beers team (BSB) for an experience that was both a challenge and a privilege considering I am a player without a home Zone site. More accurately, it’s not just that I am without a home site, but at present there is no competition Zone site for practice anywhere in the entire state of New York, s

My 450th Arena
I didn’t realize at the start of this trip that I would end up playing my 450th arena along the way. However, once it became apparent, I intentionally chose The Castle Laser Tag in Gaithersburg, MD to be the site for this milestone number. I picked this place in no small part because I remembered having a great time a few years ago at their sister arena in Bowie, MD. This arena also proved to be a lot of fun! I really enjoy playing Zone Helios Pro, so that was also part of th

Turn for the Tactical
When I arrived at Team Tactics in Woodbridge, VA I was definitely impressed with the atmosphere. The lobby was active and the snack calling to me as I waited for my group to be called into a game. Briefing happened by video right out front in the lobby in order to maximize time as several games rotated through the arenas we would soon be entering. I was intrigued when I heard they have three separately themed arenas here, but what interested me more was what I discovered when

Not Just For Kids
I’m going to momentarily skip past night one of the tournament (full post forthcoming) and instead jump ahead to the start of my daytime tag travels on Saturday. I had called ahead to Kid’s Choice Sport and Fun Center in Woodbridge, VA because from what I saw online I gathered that they might not be your typical laser tag business. In fact, they are a really cool sports complex for both kids and adults and they have a pool, several courts and fields for a variety of sports an

Tagging To Win a Bar Bet
Between the player BBQ social and the start of Zone Nats there was a window of a couple of free hours where I wanted to check out another nearby arena at Doyle’s Outpost in Alexandria, VA. I told RNT and Travis that I would meet up with them around 10:00 and by the time I arrived the guys were already there and had taken a seat at the bar. I joined them and learned that there was a challenge put on the table and we were ready to take it on. I don’t know exactly what had been

Friendly Fire from Every Direction
Adventure Park USA in Monrovia, MD was an interesting experience. I met up with Travis there and we headed over to the laser tag arena entrance where it looked like we would be in a game with one other player, a young teenager who had indicated to us that he had been playing laser tag there all day long. OK, that was fine. Inside the briefing room we predictably were asked to watch a CyberBlast briefing video. Even though we could both recite the video from memory and the kid

Invictus, At Last
Invictus. The definition of the word is “unconquerable or undefeated”, but for me Invictus means something else. Invictus is the iCOMBAT traditional style laser tag system that I first tried at the company headquarters in Wisconsin and that I have wanted to play ever since, but somehow I had never had an opportunity to experience this system in an arena until now. A couple of weeks ago Logan asked me about this at Armageddon and our friend Travis had sent me a photo after pla

Genesis, Yes!
Up until now I have only had one opportunity to play using Delta Strike Genesis, the newest version of their equipment. That’s why I was so pleased to have two opportunities on Friday to get into games using this gear in rather unique arenas. My first stop was to Urban Air in Frederick, MD where I was joined by Mario, Nader and Steven for the first game of the day. We entered the vesting room where I was delighted to see the rainbow-lit packs lined up along the racks. I must
