On The Road Again

Updated: 3 hours ago

This weekend I was back on the road again! Winter road trips can be completely weather dependent, but when I saw the opportunity with clear roads to the east (and nothing but snow to the west) I decided this was a good time for an impromptu New England adventure. Searching for arenas I had not previously visited was what led me to check out the CyberBlast game at Fun City Trampoline Park in Goffstown, NH, and I’m so glad I did!

When I arrived, I was first greeted by the General Manager, Jory, who is quite a laser tag enthusiast himself. He invited me to take a look at the attractions at Fun City before jumping into a game, and there is plenty to do from trampolines to a foam pit, kids area and more. But of course I was the most excited about experiencing the laser tag!

It’s astounding to me that I missed this arena during my previous travels through New Hampshire, as Jory (who has been the manager since the summer) told me it has been open for about seven years. He also shared that he grew up on laser tag and I could tell he was very enthusiastic about the game as he showed me the arena.

Fun City Goffstown has a unique arena that was a bit different in architecture and build. Jory and I vested up in CyberBlast packs for a 1v1 game inside this space.

This center structure is what really made me say “hmmm” as I speculated about which designer did this space. This was both a visual focal point and a functional “disappearing” spot in the arena.

There are bases in opposite corners plus targets on the upper wall perimeter. The flow of this arena kept me guessing. The sight lines were hidden at just the right angles to make it hard to keep a steady eye on my opponent’s location. Sometimes I really enjoy a smaller game to be able to take note of things like that.

There were cool cutouts in the wall with interesting edging.

And props like barrels and blocks made for interesting obstacles and hiding places.

I enjoyed this game and was really pleased that I had a chance to play somewhere new while I inch closer towards playing my 700th arena as I concurrently try to complete my third pass around all 50 states. Visiting Fun City Trampoline Park was a great way to begin my weekend adventure.

Following this game (and the several hours of driving to get there) I was hungry, so I stopped at what was clearly a very popular spot in town called Pappy’s Pizza and Subs. Two things make this worth noting. First, I had an AMAZING sub that they call the Shrimp Bomb. If you ever get the chance, you MUST try it! Second, when I pulled into a parking spot I was parked next to a vehicle that caught my eye. Why? Because I was parked next to a guy whose license plate read TAG! I wonder if he was off to play some laser tag tonight too! ;)
