Total “Eclipse” of the Arena

I arrived at Southern Lanes in Owensboro, KY expecting to play one system, but was really pleasantly surprised to learn they had recently switched to another system that I rarely get the chance to play. That’s why I was so excited to walk into the briefing room and see their racks of Netronic’s Eclipse pack, the most traditional tag product in their line-up. Awesome!

I was joined by Chase and Charlize who went over the system with me as we suited up for a game.

We were all excited to get an opportunity to play…even the pickle!

As they had previously been a Tron site, the single-level arena reflected that with the typical look of Tron tubes and maze walls.

However, what you wouldn’t necessarily expect that made this particularly cool was the menagerie of wild animals to tag around, all throughout the space.

These were by far my favorite pieces of design decor.

The game was a great time because it was unexpected. I kept listening for cues and sounds that I could connect with this system. You can hear a few of them in this video clip, including “Go, go, go!” when your pack activates, “wounded” as your energy is depleted (as this is a depletion game, not a one shot tag) and then “the player is lost” when you are deactivated and your pack turns white.

At the end of the game the screen on my phaser showed I had the highest number of deacs, but what I had not previously noticed was the step counter. I love this feature and had not realized it was included on the Eclipse.

So I guess I stepped around this “jungle” a fair amount, maneuvering around all the wild life I saw…and they really pop when the black lights are glowing!

This visit was so much fun!

Even the pickle enjoyed!

If you are looking for a place to check out Netronic’s Eclipse, Southern Lanes in Owensboro is a great place to have that game experience!
