Having a Few Blacklight Adventures
One of my favorite arena visits this trip was to Blacklight Adventures in St. Cloud, MN. I walked in to find a bright, contemporary entrance with vivid purple theming that impressed me right from the start. The woman behind the counter (who I would later learn is one of the owners) got on a walkie talkie and requested the marshal hold the start of the game so that I could get into the next game right away with the group going in. Thank you! I hurried back to the vesting area

No Trouble in River City
No trouble in River City! Of course, I was looking to play laser tag, not billiards (throwback to the Music Man if you didn’t catch the reference) at River City Extreme in Monticello, MN. Well, almost anyway. We did have a couple of false starts with the Nexus packs, but the staff member I played against did what he could to fix the issues and we were off and running with a nice 1v1 game in this double level arena. I apologize for what I do when I’m hangry. I did go into this

Two Grand Slams
I played two Grand Slam arenas in one day while in Minnesota. The first was located in Coon Rapids where I got to play a unique Lasertron 1v1 with Sam. We entered the 4000 square foot arena and I could tell after the first few shots that I had a vest issue to begin with, but we rectified that quickly and I saw no reason to restart the game, so it kept going while we swapped out the pack. This meant I had a few shots to make up against my opponent in order to catch up. What am

Right On Target at The Fun Lab
I didn’t know when I arrived at The Fun Lab in Blaine, MN that it would be the first of team arenas I would end up playing in that one single day! What I did know was that they were opening early in the day, so I was right there when they opened the doors and so got the first game of the morning joined by Nathan, Greg and Nate who were ready to give me a good challenge at any hour! We put on our Helios CE package and entered a nicely done, two-level arena. I noticed something

Working My Way Across Wisconsin
I had started my day on the eastern side of Wisconsin and ended up on the western side with a visit to Action City in Eau Claire. What struck me about this location was the homegrown style arena nestled inside a fairly comprehensive FEC that is part of the Metropolis Resort. It’s a place with a lot going on, so it would have been easy enough to go with one of the better-known arena designers, but I have a soft spot for arenas that are a bit more original, like this. My favori

Where the Wild Fun is Found
I continued to my next destination, Wild Fun Zone in Wisconsin Dells, WI to discover that this is the big touristy part of the state with attractions in the style of one big midway through town. I figured if this alien was defending himself with Lazer Runner I would get into the game as well! Staff member Philip joined me for a round and we put on the new Lazer Runner packs. He led me down a staircase to the arena area underneath where I found a forest of black light painted

A Coffee Break Leads to a Little Tom Foolery
I was on route to one location in central Wisconsin when I pulled over for a coffee break. While I’m sitting in the drive-thru I look up and what do I see? Directly across the street is a BIG sign with the words “LASER TAG” and you know I had to follow! I found myself at Tom Foolery’s Adventure Park associated with the Kalahari Resort in Lake Delton, WI. I followed the signs the rest of the way. This arena was small, but very well done with neon sculptures glowing beneath the

A Tour of Battle Company
I love a behind the scenes look at what’s going on in the laser tag industry, so my thanks to the team at Battle Company for hosting me for a tour or their headquarters in Oak Creek, WI as well as a chance to play a few games with the staff in their on-site test arena. Upon my arrival at the office building, I was met by Brian Sytkowski, the director of sales, who I have met numerous times at the various industry trade shows. Brian told me that he and Aaron Fischer (founder a

Closing Out the Summer Tagging in the Midwest
Wow, did I ever have an intense, but amazing tag trip that took me to 21 laser tag arenas across Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois! For one solid week I have been on the go, building this adventure around a gathering that was scheduled over the Labor Day weekend. Seeing my friends was the primary reason for the trip, but I can’t help but turn any vacation into a laser tag adventure! There are so many stories I want to share about all the arenas I visited, so I will be posting
