Merch from Montreal
As an ode to all this recent travel, this Museum Collection Monday is a look at some tag swag, aka merch acquired while on the road. This is a hardcover comic book by Laser Game Evolution that is all in French, as it was obtained during a trip I took to Montreal. For more laser tag history visit LaserTagMuseum.com . Laser Tag, Sushi and an Axolotl
I spent a very enjoyable birthday complete with laser tag, sushi and an axolotl. :) I must say, my coworkers are great. I showed up at work to find my office had been under full birthday attack! And if you look closely, sitting there on my desk was a stuffed axolotl, a lovely gift from Kayla. He’s so cute! I spent the morning enjoying cake as my office sang a beautifully (and intentionally) off-key version of Happy Birthday before the axolotl and I hit the road. We met up wit

Straight from the Castle (TV Show)
It’s Museum Collection Monday and this one is bit of a teaser for this week’s podcast, which will be dropping on Friday. Here is a Zone Helios pack signed by Nathan Fillion and Molly Quinn. It’s special because it was actually used in the filming of the tv show Castle, which is one of several television shows featuring laser tag that I will be discussing with my guest Jason Helton as we talk “Tag on TV” on the next Laser Unfocused Tag Talk podcast. Making a BIG Impression
The final stop for my Arkansas adventure weekend was to Malys Family Entertainment Center in Conway. I was looking forward to some Delta Strike Genesis played in their haunted arena. Get ready because something wicked this way comes…wicked cool that is! I was met by Xavier who led me to their vesting room to select my pack from the wall of rainbow choices charging up. Then we headed into the two-story game space featuring some BIG attention getters. The top floor has some ind

Action Jacks was Action Packed
I had a chance to tag using Battle Company gear at Action Jacks in Conway, AR, but this was a completely different game experience! The theme of the arena was “space avengers”, which paints a picture of an otherworldly fantasy rather than the tactical battle that I typically experience when using this system. I loved the completely original take on the design of the arena and the game felt like traditional tag more than tactical. It was thoroughly fun! When I purchased my gam

Open Air at Urban Air
For the last few years we’ve been seeing a lot more of the open air laser tag concept and Urban Air was an early adopter of this idea, so I take note whenever I see it in use at one of their locations. This is the first thing I noticed about the laser tag arena when I played at Urban Air in Benton, AR. The open air arena essentially boils down to not hiding the arena behind closed off windows or walls and allowing spectators to see the game from the outside of the arena area.

Cool Surprises
I headed over to T-Rex Fun Spot in Hot Springs, AR to see what their arena had to offer. This one had a few cool surprises! When I arrived my first thought was “this looks like a hotel”…which part of the property is. That’s a little different. I went over to the main building to purchase my game before being joined by Fisher for a game in the arena located in the second building, adjacent to the hotel lobby. I was struck immediately by the cool sign promoting laser tag out fr

Revitalized Tag
There is some clever ingenuity inside the laser tag arena I experienced at Funtrackers Family Fun Park in Hot Springs, AR. This place is an excellent example of how to revitalize an existing arena to keep things fresh! I enjoyed a game of CyberBlast where a couple of cool things caught my attention…and the expression on my mini-rubber chicken’s face pretty much mirrors my thoughts, lol! The rubber chicken has become something of a mascot since first appearing at Tag 4 A Cause

Laser Tag was the “Main Event” of the Night
It’s no joke that southern hospitality is a real thing, and I experienced it as soon as I arrived in Arkansas. I made a beeline straight for Main Event in Little Rock as soon as my flight landed, timing out perfectly to tag with this awesome group, made up mostly of students from Arkansas State University. I’ve been around a Main Event or two (or actually 26 of them) before, so I’m quite familiar with what to expect, so I was looking around for the counter to buy my game pass
